Abstrak

Currently, drug abuse in Indonesia is at a very alarming level. The National Police, as a state institution whose main function is law enforcement, plays a crucial role in the prevention and enforcement of drug abuse. This study aims to find out the efforts of the Surakarta Police Drug Investigation Unit in preventing drug abuse crimes that occur in the Surakarta Police Legal Area and also to find out the factors that become obstacles for investigators of the Surakarta Police Drug Investigation Unit in efforts to prevent drug abuse crimes in the Surakarta Police Legal Area. In this research, the author uses empirical juridical research. Empirical juridical research is research conducted by examining primary data obtained directly from the community or legal institutions such as the results of interviews and observations. In this research, the research approach that will be used is a sociological juridical approach. The sociological juridical approach is to identify and conceptualize law as a real and functional social institution in a real life system. Based on the discussion and analysis, it can be concluded that the efforts of the Surakarta Police Drug Investigation Unit in preventing drug abuse crimes that occur in the Surakarta Police Legal Area include: Conducting distribution of anti-drug brochures; Conducting Counseling in Government Agencies, NGOs and Communities; Conducting Counseling among Students and Students; Forming Anti-Drug Villages (Kampung Bersinar) and Conducting Patrols and Raids.  Meanwhile, the obstacles faced by the Investigators of the Surakarta Police Drug Investigation Unit in preventing drug abuse crimes in the Surakarta Police Legal Area are: Disconnected drug trafficking network and high mobility in the city of Surakarta; The existence of a new modus operandi; Lack of family approach and Social and Economic Pressure.
