Author Guidelines
Gema Journal, published by Universitas Islam Batik Surakarta (UNIBA), invites authors to submit original research articles, review papers, and short communications related to various fields of study. The following guidelines are intended to help authors prepare their manuscripts according to the journal's formatting and submission requirements. All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer review process, and only articles that meet the journal's standards will be accepted for publication.
- Manuscript Submission
- Submission Platform: All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the journal’s submission system at https://journal.uniba.ac.id/index.php/GM.
- Originality: Submissions must be original and have not been published or are not under review elsewhere. Plagiarism detection tools will be used to ensure the originality of the manuscript.
- Language: Manuscripts must be written in either Indonesian or English. The manuscript must be clear, concise, and grammatically correct.
- Manuscript Structure
The manuscript should be prepared in the following order:
- Title: The title should be concise, clear, and describe the content of the research.
- Abstract: The abstract should be between 150-250 words and summarize the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. It should be written in both Indonesian and English.
- Keywords: Provide 3-5 keywords that are relevant to the article.
- Introduction: The introduction should outline the background, objectives, and the importance of the study. It should also include a review of the relevant literature.
- Methods: This section should describe the research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures in sufficient detail.
- Results: Present the findings of the research in a logical sequence. Use tables, figures, and charts as necessary. All figures and tables should be numbered and have clear captions.
- Discussion: Discuss the implications of the findings, how they relate to existing research, and any limitations of the study.
- Conclusion: Provide a summary of the main findings, recommendations, or directions for future research.
- References: Cite only those references that are directly relevant to the study. The citation style used in Gema Journal is APA (American Psychological Association), 7th edition.
- Formatting Requirements
- Font: Use Times New Roman, 12 pt for the body text, and 14 pt for the title.
- Line Spacing: Use 1.5 line spacing for the entire manuscript.
- Margins: Set margins to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
- Page Numbers: Include page numbers in the footer of each page.
- Headings: Use bold for section headings and subheadings. Section numbers are not required.
- Figures and Tables: Figures and tables should be inserted into the manuscript at appropriate locations and be numbered consecutively. Ensure that the quality of images is high.
- Reference Style
The references must follow the APA 7th edition style. Below is an example of the citation format for common types of references:
- Books: Lastname, F. M. (Year). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Publisher.
- Journal Articles: Lastname, F. M., & Lastname, F. M. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, Volume(Issue), page range. https://doi.org/xxxxxx
- Websites: Author. (Year, Month Date). Title of webpage. Website Name. URL

- Ethical Guidelines
- Authorship: The manuscript should list all individuals who made substantial contributions to the conception, design, analysis, or interpretation of the research. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the research or publication of the manuscript.
- Ethical Approval: If the research involves human or animal subjects, authors must obtain ethical approval from the relevant authorities and state this in the Methods section.
- Peer Review Process
- Double-Blind Review: All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process, where both the reviewer and author identities are kept anonymous.
- Revisions: Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on the reviewers' comments before the article is accepted for publication.
- Copyright and Licensing
- Authors must ensure that they hold the copyright to their work or have obtained permission for any third-party material included in the manuscript.
- Upon acceptance for publication, authors agree to grant Gema Journal the right to publish their work. The article will be made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
- Submission Fees
- There are no submission or publication fees for articles submitted to Gema Journal.
